A non-pipeline system takes 50ns to process a task. The same task can be processed in a six-segment pipeline with a clock cycle of 10ns. Determine approximately the speedup ratio of the pipeline for 500 tasks

Time required to execute 500 tasks without pipeline = 500* 50 = 25000 ns
Time required to execute 500 tasks with 6-stages pipeline = Time taken by 1st task + Time taken by       
 remaining 499 tasks
 = 1 x 6 clock cycles + 499 x 1 clock cycle
 = 6 clock time + 499 clock time
 = 6* 10 + 499* 10
 = 60 + 4990 = 5050ns
